Claylands Road shortlisted for New London Architecture Don’t Move Improve 2019

Our Claylands Road project is in the running to be crowned as London’s best home improvement project in the annual Don’t Move Improve Awards organised by New London Architecture. More details of the shortlisted projects can be found here.

Eddystone Road nears completion

Our first new build house is nearing completion. Plastering is about to start and much of the tiling is done.

Great progress at Mildmay Park

With the kitchen and bathroom installed plastering complete and decoration well progressed the new spaces within our flat reconfiguration project are more and more apparent. Things should move quickly over the coming weeks as we near completion.

Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust Building Futures

Liang He, a recent graduate from the University of East London, has spent two weeks with us gaining work experience. Liang has got involved with a wide range of the practices work including some competition and early project stage design studies, site visits and project meetings. Paul has been mentoring Liang through the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust Building Futures programme and it has been great having him in the office.

A new project in a new borough

We are about to start work on a new project in Wandsworth. Our client has asked to explore extensive remodelling and extension options for their large semi-detached home. This is our first project in Wandsworth and takes our reach to ten London boroughs. We believe a breadth of experience and proven success in many locations is a great asset, and demonstrates that it is quality of design and approach that makes the difference.

Loft extension planning permission at Clive Road

Following our planning appeal success earlier in the year we have now secured permission for a roof top extension on our project on Clive Road, North Dulwich. With the ground floor extension tender information about to the sent to potential builders the next few months will be an exciting time for the project.

Eddystone Road topped out

The topping out of our new build house was recently celebrated with the design and construction team gathering on site to enjoy the fantastic weather. The expressed engineered timber structure, created using Baubuche, has been expertly put together by the team at Create Bespoke.

Daylight at Elmwood Road

The installation of the glazing at Elmwood Road has transformed the appearance of the interior of the previously dark and enclosed ground floor. The flow of space between the dining and kitchen space is now flooded with natural light. The photos below show some of the key steps in the construction progress. Completion is due in July.

Teaching at UEL and Sheffield Hallam

Robin and Paul have both been back to uni in recent weeks. Robin has taken part in project reviews at the University of East London while Paul has continued his technical tutoring role at Sheffield Hallam University. We wish all the students the best of luck as the end of the academic year approaches.

New project close to home in Clapham

We’re very pleased to have been appointed on a new project, and one around the corner from our office in Clapham. We’ve been asked to develop concept ideas for the internal reconfiguration of a lower ground floor, including a kitchen / diner space, inner hall, and family room, of a large 4 storey house.

Paul has joined the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust Building Future Programme as a mentor to young people working toward a career in architecture. The programme offers support, advice and guidance to students and young professionals, helping them take the next step in their careers. More information can be found here.

Clive Road planning appeal success

We have just won a planning appeal for our project at Clive Road, West Dulwich. This gets the proposals for a ground floor extension and internal reconfiguration back on track. We will now progress to detailed design, with work hopefully on site later in the year.

Don't Move, Improve! design surgeries

Paul recently took part in the New London Architecture Don’t Move Improve consultant design surgeries. These are free advice sessions offered by design and construction professionals to assist people looking to extend or improve their home. It is a great initiative that also raises money for the charity Article 25.

Eddystone Road taking shape

Great progress has been made on our ambitious new build house project. Following the completion of the demolition, temporary and ground works the recent progress has been particularly exciting as the new house begins to take shape. 2018 will see the completion of our first new build building!

Claylands Road nearing completion

It has been an exciting time on Claylands Road, with the project nearing completion and the bespoke joinery, designed by CPA and made in Italy, being installed on site in recent days. Finishing touches will continue into the New Year, when we will be able to reveal the fully completed project.

Ferndale selected for Don't Move Improve exhibition

Ferndale has been selected to be shown in the New London Architecture's Don’t Move Improve exhibition in January next year. This is a showcase of some of the best home improvement and extension projects recently completed in London.

Planning permission for Nightingale Lane

We’ve had a planning success in Bromley with permission given for our project on Nightingale Lane. The project proposes a bold contemporary extension and garden re-landscaping to an Edwardian semi-detached house.

Office fit out project in Bristol

We’ve been appointed to carry out at a 2,700sqm office fit out feasibility for a prime office building in central Bristol. Subject to our client confirming the lease we will develop the scheme to detailed concept design for tender.

GLA pre app meeting

Our re-developement project in Lambeth has been submitted to the GLA for pre application advice. We met with GLA to discuss the proposals and await their response before moving to the next stage.

Redevelopment project in Lambeth - update

We have continued to work on the large scale development project in Lambeth that we last posted about in December 2016. Working with planning consultants DP9 we have progressed the design in preparation for a pre-application submission in the coming weeks. These preview images give a sense of the scale and ambition of the project, with more to be revealed in the coming months. The possibilities of the project are extremely exciting.

Eddystone Road receives planning permission

Our exciting project for the full rebuild of a terraced house in Brockley has been granted permission by the London Borough of Lewisham. The proposed rebuild is a response to numerous structural problems with the existing property. By being a full rebuild, the construction work will be zero rated for VAT, helping to offset some of the additional cost of the rebuild. The project is due to start on site in September.

Oscar McDonald has joined Conibere Phillips. A Part II architectural assistant with good experience working on some of the most prestigious projects in the UK, we are very excited about Oscar joining our team.

Elmwood Road receives planning permission

Our Elmwood Road project has received planning permission. The application is unusual because it includes the partial recladding of the neighbouring property. It is actually the 2nd planning application for the project, the first being a change of use application to re-combine two flats back into a single house.

Claylands Road start on site

Work has commenced on site at our Claylands Road project. This ambitious extension and refurbishment project is being built by Create Bespoke contractors.

Undercliff Road site progress

Good progress is being made on our project in Brockley, south east London. The main structural modifications have been completed and the transformation, from small 1 bed flat into a large 2 bed flat, is really beginning to take shape.

Sheffield Hallam University talk

Paul gave a talk to Interior Architecture Degree students at Sheffield Hallam University. The talk focused on the collaborative nature of design, including Paul’s work on the Mary Rose Museum with interior and exhibition design specialists, and our own interior focused work for Dyson and King’s College London.

New projects in Dulwich and Stoke Newington

Our geographical reach has been extended to north east London, and consolidated in south London, with our appointment on two new projects. In Stoke Newington we have been asked to look at the refurbishment of a maisonette flat within a Victorian terrace. In Dulwich we’re looking at extending a large 4 bed house at both ground and roof level.

Webb Yates Engineers appointed to our Elmwood Road project

We are very pleased to be working with Webb Yates Engineers on our major house refurbishment project in Dulwich. The proposals include the creation of a basement, double height dining / library space and a roof extension. Site investigations have been carried out and we are not working on the detailed design stage.
