New living space - almost complete
The transformation of an existing live/work unit to a 3 bed family home. The original building had accommodation arranged around a small light well. With living accommodation on the ground floor, and sleeping above, the living spaces were dark and had no views.

Originally engaged by the client to consider a general refurbishment of the living spaces, we proposed reversing the existing arrangement, creating an open plan 'loft' type living space on the upper floor. A glass floored balcony was proposed to provide outdoor space to the upper floors, while allowing light to the lower floor when not in use.

The ground floor was refurbished to provide 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a utility area. 'Hanging garden' planting within the light well enhances these spaces. The works to the building have substantially increased the value of the property, having been transformed both visually and functionally.

We provided full architectural services from concept and ideas studies to developing detailed design for construction and managing the works on site. The project was completed in August 2016.
