A radical reconfiguration and extension of a 2 bed ground floor garden flat close to Hampstead Heath in north London. The project transforms the heavily compromised flat, creating generous new living spaces and a clarity of layout that connects inside to outside.
Despite being on the ground floor and set within a large double fronted former house, the existing flat has multiple small level changes between rooms, within corridors and to the garden. Circulation is extensive, and small living spaces do not exploit the potential for connecting to outside. Overcoming these issues is the priority of the design, creating a home that feels generous and open both internally and to the outdoors.
